Dear Pam,
I am on the board of directors of my community and we have an issue with one of our owners. Due to their abusive and unpredictable behavior, the board has decided to cut any and all communication with them. As our management company, what can be done to ensure this happens? Signed, A concerned Neighbor
I understand your concern. Because of the severity of this type of situation, you should consult with the association’s attorney. As a management company, there are limits to our involvement with potently explosive situations, especially when it comes to neighbor-to-neighbor disputes. Your attorney has the authority to reduce these potential liabilities and address safety issues. Owners are more likely to comply with the rules when notified by an attorney. If things become extreme, we always recommend contacting the police.
